India is severely affected by the coronavirus, and our workforce in the local plants in Meerut and Pune is confronted daily with this dire situation. Fully aware that vaccines and treatments are crucial to beat this malicious virus, the entire India team is fully committed to ensuring timely production and supply of glass tubing, glass vials, and glass ampoules.
High quality glass tubing lies at the beginning of every glass container. Hence, a continuous supply of sufficient quantities to meet current and future demand is crucial. In our factory in Meerut, we produce several thousand tons of premium Type I glass tubing that is shipped to our Pune plant for the actual converting process. Furthermore, our glass tubing is supplied to other convertors across India who also manufacture vials and ampoules. Having pledged to provide enough glass tubing, Nipro PharmaPackaging will invest substantially in a capacity extension in India in the coming three years. Already in 2022, the first expansion will result in additional glass tubing quantities for the Indian and global market.
In our state-of-the-art plant near Pune, we produce glass ampoules and glass vials meeting the highest requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. Millions of glass containers are carefully manufactured and undergo strict quality inspections before leaving our plant. The vials and ampoules vary in sizes, from 2 ml for a single dose up to 20 ml for 8 or more doses. They are supplied to leading Indian pharmaceutical companies to be filled with drugs such as Sputnik V and Remdesivir.
