This training provides a structured introduction to the fundamental principles, techniques, and best practices required for safe and successful fistula cannulation.
The course covers essential practical aspects, including selecting the appropriate dialysis needle (type, gauge, and length), proper needle handling and positioning, as well as skin preparation to ensure optimal hygiene and infection prevention. Step-by-step guidance is provided to support correct cannulation techniques and improve consistency in daily practice.
In addition, participants will learn practical tips and techniques to increase cannulation success, including optimal needle insertion angle, patency assessment, and proper needle fixation methods. Special attention is given to the prevention and recognition of complications such as haematoma, infection, bleeding, stenosis, and needle dislodgement.
