To accommodate our growth we are looking for a Research engineer, specialized in Dialysis systems.

About the Role

As Research Engineer you are responsible for leading research, innovation, user needs identification & analysis, ideation, and concept development & testing of novel solutions for hemodialysis equipment and related medical devices.

 

What you'll Do

  • Research & Concept Development:
    • Participation in the user needs collection and screening process
    • Generation of concepts for hemodialysis equipment based on identified and screened user needs
    • Reverse engineering and breakdown of existing device architectures in order to find opportunities for optimization and improvement
    • Drive proof of concept & technology demonstrations
    • Patent research & new IP generation
  • Modelling, Simulation and Data Analysis:
    • Using domain knowledge in hemodialysis, as well as the individual specialized field(s) (for example biomedical engineering, control systems, chemical engineering, biochemistry, electrical / electronics) to solve specific  problems, utilizing mathematical modelling, simulation, and data analysis
  • Rapid Prototyping:
    • Transformation from ideas into functional prototypes using rapid prototyping platforms and processes, leveraging model based design
    • Iterating designs based on feedback and test results to refine product concepts
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Communicating research findings, project updates, and technical insights effectively within the team and across departments
    • Collaborating with external partners, Universities, medical practitioners, researchers, and clinicians as needed

What you'll Need

  • You are a System Engineer with at leas 5 years of relevant experience
  • Domain knowledge in one of the following areas is required: biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, control systems, chemical engineering, biochemistry, medicine
  • This role requires strong technical skills and domain knowledge of dialysis systems

  • You are a strong at problem solving and out-of-the box thinking

  • You enjoy do coordination of stakeholders, and collaboration in the R&D team towards common project goals

  • Experience with exploratory testing, simulation, mathematical modelling of systems (for example using Matlab / Simulink) and statistical data analysis is required

  • Practical understanding of Six Sigma tools is highly desired

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are committed to challenging tasks
  • You are always eager to learn and develop yourself further
  • Excellent command in English is required, additional languages are a plus
