Nipro is proud to support the advancement of renal care expertise in Suriname with the recent opening of a new state-of-the-art Dialysis Training Center for local dialysis nurses and technicians, achieved in partnership with EFS College Covab and Kersten Distributions. To mark the occasion, two local artists contributed paintings to the center’s dedication, each symbolising with vivid colors the cultural significance and mutual benefit of this collaborative effort.

In March 2023, Nipro’s Country Manager Benelux, Miek Lakiere, initiated discussions with the Surinamese Ministry of Health, offering to invest in training for dialysis professionals. This collaboration has grown to include EFS College Covab - a leading healthcare education institution - and Kersten Distributions, Nipro’s official distributor in Suriname. Together, these organizations are working to enhance the skills and knowledge of dialysis nurses and technicians, ensuring better care for patients with chronic kidney disease.

To date, 48 dialysis nurses and technicians have been trained in the latest dialysis techniques and developments, supported by an investment of €48,000. Nipro donated a €20,000 dialysis practice room to further enhance training, providing a cutting-edge learning environment for hands-on education.

From November 11 to 15, 2024, these nurses and technicians participated in practical training sessions designed to hone their skills in real-world scenarios. During this time, Nipro and EFS College Covab discussed how to strengthen their partnership and explored opportunities for further collaboration. By investing in education, equipment, and opportunities for global collaboration, Nipro and its local partners are ensuring that Suriname’s dialysis teams are equipped to meet the growing healthcare needs of kidney patients in the region.
