At NIPRO, we believe that providing high-quality medical devices starts with continuous learning. As part of our dedication to safe and effective healthcare solutions, we constantly look for ways to expand our knowledge and improve our development processes.
Recently, ten of our team members participated in an in-house blended training course on design control, developed and delivered by Medical Device HQ. The course was customized to our needs and focused on one of the key aspects of medical device development: transforming ideas into safe, compliant, and effective products.
A tailored, hands-on learning experience
The in-house training included self-paced e-learning modules on theory, followed by a hands-on instructor-led workshop.
This blended course format allowed participants to establish a strong foundation beforehand, ensuring that classroom sessions focused on meaningful discussions and practical applications. The discussions served as a helpful reminder that, although the theory may seem simple, practicing it can be quite challenging.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored real-world challenges and ongoing development projects, with plenty of opportunities for questions and knowledge sharing.
“The workshop was quite enlightening,” one attendee noted. “I could actually appreciate the complexity of putting into practice what I learned in the modules.”
Expert-led, insight-driven
Led by Claus Romer Andersen, an experienced instructor from Medical Device HQ, the workshop not only reinforced our understanding of regulatory requirements, but it also helped build a shared language across functions. Reviewing answers together, asking questions, and exchanging insights provided us with a stronger foundation for working as a team.
We walked away with a better understanding of how design control fits into our daily responsibilities and how it helps us achieve our main goal: creating products healthcare providers can trust and patients can depend on.
Key outcomes and reflections
By the end of the training, our team members had:
- Enhanced their knowledge of design control requirements and best practices
- Applied course concepts to real-world scenarios encountered in their daily work.
- Engaged in detailed discussions on product development challenges
- Established a common language and framework for design control throughout the team.
A shared commitment to excellence
This collaboration between NIPRO and Medical Device HQ reflects a shared commitment to continuous improvement, high-quality development, and regulatory excellence. By investing in team development, Nipro continues to strengthen its capabilities, which will, in turn, enhance its products for the benefit of both healthcare providers and patients.
