A stronger and continued commitment

Strengthening its position

Nipro PharmaPackaging is strengthening its position as a leading global supplier of glass primary packaging for the pharmaceutical industry.  The company is channeling more than 60 million USD towards enlarging capacity in its glass tube-draw facilities in France and USA. This investment will address the global increase in quality and demand, mainly allowing to support the growth Nipro is facing in its pharmaceutical packaging business.  The new automated lines, both in France and the USA, will meet the market’s demands for high quality products, as well as Nipro’s own stringent quality standards.

Enabling further market growth

Nipro is investing in the further expansion of its production capacity for premium quality glass tubing for the primary pharmaceutical packaging market, with a clear focus on injectable medicines.  Nipro intends to spend over 60 million USD on increasing its capacity in the manufacturing facilities of Aumale, France and Millville, New Jersey (USA).

First production out of the new capacity is scheduled to start in 2021.  The investment will come to full fruition by 2024.  By this time, Nipro will provide additional jobs to approximately 70 employees, of which the vast majority will be employed in Aumale, France.

Enhancing Nipro's position in the primary pharmaceutical packaging market

Through this investment, Nipro shows its continued and increased commitment to the healthcare industry.  Since the start of the division “Nipro Pharma Packaging”, Nipro has heavily invested in upgrading the facilities and has successfully introduced its NSV borosilicate type I glass into the market. As the parenteral pharmaceutical market faces continuously increased regulatory scrutiny, consistency in premium quality glass needs to be guaranteed upstream in the value chain.

At the same time, the market requires additional capacity of premium quality glass, be it for therapeutic (treatments) or preventive (vaccination) interventions

The pure composition of Nipro’s glass, combined with proven state-of-the art technologies, yield tighter dimensions and allow Nipro to produce improved quality glass tubing for premium products such as cartridges and syringes.

By optimizing the melting & combustion process using state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, Nipro confirms an improved ecological footprint, reducing both CO² exhaust and energy consumption.

Engaging in a stronger and continued commitment

“This current investment is testimony to Nipro’s responsibility to society as we develop innovative, value-added products and technologies that improve patient outcomes and healthcare worldwide.”
Tsuyoshi Yamazaki - Head of Nipro's PharmaPackaging Division
